Heywoods Beach

Heywoods Beach is a public beach in Saint Peter featuring about 500 meters of white sand bordered by palm trees and facing turquoise Caribbean waters. The shoreline offers parking spaces and nearby establishments where visitors can rent beach chairs and umbrellas.

The beach gained recognition in the 1960s when local fishermen established their first permanent boat storage facility at its northern end. This origin reflects how the area was shaped by traditional fishing before becoming a public shoreline.

On weekends, local vendors set up food stalls offering traditional fish cakes, grilled seafood, and fresh coconut water to both locals and visitors. This daily scene shows how the beach serves as a gathering place where people share meals and enjoy the sea together.

The beach offers free public access with parking spaces and rental options for chairs and umbrellas at nearby shops. Visitors find the calmest conditions in early morning or late afternoon, away from weekend crowds.

Marine researchers regularly track rare hawksbill turtles nesting here between July and October as part of conservation work. This seasonal presence makes the beach an important site for protecting these sea creatures and offers visitors a chance to witness this natural process.
