Needham's Point Lighthouse, Coastal lighthouse in Saint Michael, Barbados
The octagonal masonry tower stands 13 meters tall at the southern end of Carlisle Bay, featuring white walls and a black lantern structure.
Built in 1855, this lighthouse served as a critical navigation aid for ships entering Carlisle Bay, marking safe passage through the southwestern waters of Barbados.
The lighthouse represents maritime heritage of Barbados as one of four remaining historical beacons that guided vessels along the Caribbean trading routes.
Visitors can view the lighthouse exterior from Pebbles Beach near the Hilton Barbados Resort, though the tower interior remains closed to the public.
The lighthouse employs a stationary beacon with half-red and half-green lens, allowing ships to determine their position on either port or starboard side.
