Phibsoo Wildlife Sanctuary

Phibsoo Wildlife Sanctuary spans 268.93 square kilometers between elevations of 200 to 1,600 meters along the border with West Bengal.

The area transformed from Phibsoo Reserved Forests in 1974 to receive wildlife sanctuary status in 1993, with its first conservation plan implemented in 2012.

The sanctuary extends its influence across Nichula and Singye gewog regions, where 107 households maintain traditional connections with the protected landscape.

Visitors can access two range offices, Phibsoo and Nichula, plus one outpost that facilitate conservation activities and wildlife observation throughout the sanctuary.

The sanctuary contains 300 acres of subtropical rangeland supporting eight cat species, spotted deer, and the only natural sal forest in Bhutan.
