Alassa, Mountain community in Limassol District, Cyprus.
Alassa is a mountain community in Limassol District situated at about 440 meters elevation. The village lies north of the Kouris Dam and overlooks the reservoir.
The original settlement dated to the 17th century but was relocated in 1985 when the Kouris Dam construction flooded the old site. The community was rebuilt at higher ground.
The village is known for its olive groves and vineyards that residents have tended for generations. Local people gather for community celebrations where they share their harvests and food traditions.
The village is accessible by the main road from Limassol heading toward Platres, making it easy to reach from the city. Visitors should have their own transportation, as public transit options are limited.
Archaeological digs at Pano Mantilari uncovered a large copper-era building, which at 1440 square meters is the biggest known structure from that period on the island. The discovery reveals how early communities were organized in the region.
