Cyprus Museum, National archaeological museum in central Nicosia, Cyprus
The Cyprus Museum displays fourteen galleries of artifacts arranged chronologically from the Neolithic period through the early Christian period in Cyprus.
Founded in 1882 during British rule, the museum started in temporary governmental offices before moving to its current building, completed in 1924.
The collections include locally discovered pottery, jewelry, sculptures, and coins representing the progression of Cypriot civilization through different periods.
The museum opens Tuesday through Friday from 8:00 to 18:00, Saturday from 9:00 to 17:00, and Sunday from 10:00 to 13:00 at Miki Theodoraki 1.
The institution houses exclusively artifacts found within Cyprus, creating the most extensive collection of Cypriot antiquities in existence.
