Nicosia municipal gardens, Municipal gardens in Ayios Andreas, Cyprus
Nicosia municipal gardens is a public park featuring winding pathways, flower beds, trees, and a small lake where waterfowl gather near weeping willows. The space includes playgrounds, shaded seating areas, and refreshment stands distributed throughout the grounds.
The gardens were completed in 1969 as part of urban development in central Nicosia. They have provided green space to the city center for more than 5 decades.
The gardens serve as a gathering place where locals walk, relax, and spend time with family and friends in the shade of mature trees. You can observe residents using the benches, children playing, and visitors strolling through the leafy paths on most days.
Entry is free and the gardens offer plenty of shade from their mature trees along with numerous resting spots throughout the grounds. Visitors should plan to arrive in early morning or late afternoon during warmer months when sun exposure is more comfortable.
One section features informational signs about native Cypriot plants and their characteristics, adding an educational element to a simple recreational visit. This botanical display lets visitors learn about local plant species while strolling through the grounds.
