The Monastery of Stavros contains a two-story complex arranged in a Greek letter Π shape with arched galleries surrounding the central church building.
The monastery dates from the 12th century and received protection status from the Ottoman Sultan in 1700, safeguarding its religious activities during Turkish rule.
The monastery museum displays Byzantine icons, church artifacts, and a collection documenting Cyprus's liberation struggle between 1955 and 1959.
The monastery welcomes visitors daily from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM during summer months and 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM in winter, with no entrance fee.
The monastery houses a wooden cross with gold and silver plating and a fragment of rope believed to have bound Christ to the cross.
