Golden Beach, Beach on Karpaz Peninsula, Cyprus
The four-kilometer stretch of Golden Beach features wide sandy shores bordered by cliffs and rocks along the southern coast of Cyprus.
Following the 1974 Turkish invasion, access to Golden Beach was restricted under military control until environmental protection measures were established in 1997.
The beach area maintains strong connections to both Greek and Turkish communities, reflecting the diverse heritage of northern Cyprus through local cuisine and traditions.
Visitors must navigate a deteriorating coastal road from Rizokarpaso village, located 20 kilometers away, to reach the remote beach location.
Green sea turtles select this protected shoreline as their nesting ground each July, with hatchlings emerging to reach the Mediterranean waters.
