Fig Tree Bay, Beach in Protaras, Cyprus.
Fig Tree Bay is a sandy beach in Protaras where golden sand extends for about 500 meters and meets clear Mediterranean waters. A small island sits just offshore and is reachable by wading through shallow water, creating a focal point for swimmers.
The beach area was developed with improvements over time, and in 2010 an ancient Greek tomb was discovered during construction work. This find revealed that the region had been inhabited and used by people in early periods.
The restaurants and cafes dotting the shoreline reflect the local way of eating and gathering, where fresh fish and traditional recipes remain central to daily life.
The beach offers sunbed rentals and lifeguard coverage from April to October, with parking available nearby. The shallow waters and sandy bottom make it safe and easy to enter and move around in.
English musician Peter Frampton recorded a song dedicated to this location on his 1972 album Wind of Change. Few visitors know that the beach inspired a piece of rock music history.
