Makronissos Beach, Sandy beach in Agia Napa, Cyprus

Makronissos Beach is a sandy shore in Agia Napa stretching roughly 300 meters between two natural bays with clear water that gradually deepens into the Mediterranean. The golden sand slopes gently toward the sea, creating a comfortable entry point for swimmers of all abilities.

Makronissos Beach takes its name from the rocky islet of Makronisos just offshore, and the sand strip beside it holds a Hellenistic-Roman necropolis. The tombs were cut directly into the soft limestone bedrock, some with stepped entrance passages and burial chambers. Excavations in the area uncovered pottery and grave goods, showing the site was used over a long span rather than at a single moment.

The beach serves as a gathering place where locals and visitors experience the relaxed pace of life along Cyprus's southern coast. The gentle slope into the water and accessible shoreline make it a natural spot where people spend leisure time together.
