Kayan Mentarang National Park

The park extends across 13,605 square kilometers of forested mountainous terrain, with trails connecting Datadian, Apau Ping, and Long Bawan regions.

Archaeological discoveries within the park include stone tools and burial sites that indicate human presence in this region for more than 350 years.

The park borders house 25,000 indigenous Dayak people from different tribes, including Kenyah, Murut, Punan, Lundayeh, and Lun Bawang communities.

Visitors reach the park by flying to Tarakan, then taking a speed boat along the Mentarang River for six to twenty-four hours.

The national park protects numerous species including the Malayan pangolin, proboscis monkey, clouded leopard, and eight different primate species.
