Tasek Merimbun, Natural lake in Tutong District, Brunei
Tasek Merimbun extends over a length of 500 meters, forming an S-shaped body of water situated 70 kilometers from Bandar Seri Begawan.
The lake area became the first ASEAN Heritage Park in November 1984, following extensive surveys that documented its ecological importance and wildlife populations.
The Dusun Brunei people established communities around the lake, utilizing its resources for sustenance and developing traditions connected to the water body.
Visitors can rent boats to explore the lake's islands, access designated picnic areas, and observe various bird species in their natural habitat.
The water maintains a dark coloration throughout the year due to tannins released by decomposing leaves falling from surrounding vegetation.
