Tasek Merimbun, Lake in Brunei
Tasek Merimbun is a lake in Tutong District with an elongated S-shaped form. The body of water is surrounded by dense forest and contains several small islands within it.
The area became the first ASEAN Heritage Park in 1984 following surveys that documented its ecological importance. This designation protects the natural diversity of the lake and its surroundings.
The water is dark brown and banks can be slippery, so wear sturdy footwear. The best time to visit is in the morning when light is most favorable for bird watching.
The water has a dark brown color caused by tannins from decomposing leaves. This coloration results from the abundant foliage of the surrounding forests.
