Billionth Barrel Monument, Oil production monument in Seria, Brunei
The Billionth Barrel Monument features five concrete pipes forming an arch with Islamic floor tiles and gold accents near the Seria beach front.
The structure was inaugurated on July 18, 1991, by Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah to mark one billion barrels of oil extracted from the Seria field.
The monument incorporates five pillars in its design to represent the Five Pillars of Islam, displaying the connection between industry and faith in Brunei.
Visitors can reach the monument from Bandar Seri Begawan by public bus followed by a taxi ride, with no entrance fees at any time.
The structure stands 38 meters from the S-1 site, the first oil well discovered in 1929, where an original steel bar remains in place.
