Jerudong Park, Amusement park in Jerudong, Brunei
Jerudong Park is an amusement park in Jerudong, Brunei, covering more than 100 acres (40 hectares) and divided into several themed areas with classic carousels, roller coasters, and water attractions. The grounds combine modern rides with green spaces, walkways, and plazas where visitors can rest between activities.
The park originated in the early 1990s as a private project funded by the Sultan of Brunei and opened to the public in 1994. Admission was free during the first years, but after a prolonged closure in the late 1990s, the grounds were renovated and reopened in the 2000s with an entrance fee.
The name refers to the surrounding mukim, an administrative subdivision in Brunei, while the grounds consist of several themed zones, each with its own rides and play areas. Families often arrive in the late afternoon and spend several hours moving between zones as the lighting transforms the setting after dark.
The park opens daily in the late afternoon, allowing visitors to experience the main attractions before and after sunset. Weekends and school holidays tend to draw larger crowds, so arriving shortly after opening may help reduce waiting times at popular rides.
The park's amphitheater hosted performances by Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston in 1996 during a royal jubilee celebration that drew tens of thousands of spectators. The stage and seating remain visible today and occasionally serve other events.
