Pro-Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, Catholic pro-cathedral in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei

The Pro-Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption is a Roman Catholic church in central Bandar Seri Begawan, the largest church in Brunei. Construction began in 1957 and took twelve years; it was consecrated on 15 August 1969, the feast of the Assumption. Behind the main altar hangs a painting of Mary assumed into heaven, placed just below a crucifix of Jesus.

Construction of the building began in 1957 on land donated by George Newn Ah Foott and was dedicated in 1969. The church later received official designation as an Apostolic Vicariate through the action of Pope John Paul II.

The church serves as a gathering place for Catholics in a country where Islam is the predominant faith. Visitors notice the welcoming approach that draws people from different backgrounds into its community.

The church stands in the heart of Bandar Seri Begawan, in the centre-north of the country at the northern end of Borneo.
