Tungku Beach

Tungku Beach is a public beach along the South China Sea, stretching for around 400 meters with sandy sections mixed with natural rock formations. The shoreline combines different features that create varied landscape along the water.

The beach experienced significant sand erosion during the 1990s, which triggered environmental studies and conservation measures by authorities. This erosion became an important moment that brought attention to the shoreline's condition.

Local families frequent this place for picnics and fishing, with the sunset hours drawing crowds for informal gatherings and social time. These everyday activities shape how the community connects with the shoreline.

To reach this spot, follow the Tutong-Muara Highway toward Empire Hotel, make a U-turn at the traffic circle, then turn right at the Pantai Tungku sign. This route is straightforward and leads directly to the parking and beach access.

During cyclone season, this shoreline transforms into a surf destination when south-southeast winds generate wave conditions. Both left and right breaking waves occur here, making it appealing to wave riders.
