Frank Matcham designed this performance venue in 1899, transforming the former unsuccessful Marina into a grand theatre that opened on July 16, 1900.
The theatre maintains its role as a principal entertainment center, presenting musicals, dramas, pantomimes, comedians, and concerts throughout the calendar year.
Guided tours operate every Saturday between Easter and September, allowing visitors to discover the architectural details and historical elements of the building.
The Gaiety Theatre contains the last remaining Corsican Trap in the British Isles, a specialized stage mechanism for theatrical performances.
