Kuwait Water Towers, Water tower complex in Kuwait City, Kuwait.
The Kuwait Water Towers are a series of reinforced concrete structures distributed across Kuwait City, rising between 115 feet (35 meters) and 130 feet (40 meters) above ground. These buildings store and distribute water to different areas of the city.
A Swedish engineering firm designed a water supply system for Kuwait City starting in 1965 as the city expanded. Construction of the towers took place from 1970 to 1976, establishing the foundation for the city's water distribution network.
The towers have become part of Kuwait City's visual identity and residents often recognize them as modern landmarks that define the skyline.
The towers are spread throughout the city at different locations and can be seen from many streets and vantage points. Visitors can best view and photograph them from public roads and open areas without needing special access.
Each structure features geometric patterns in shades of blue, green, and gray arranged in spiral formations across the exterior surface. This decoration was meant to add visual interest to functional industrial buildings and connect them to local design traditions.
