Commune of Monaco

The Commune of Monaco is the administrative organization that manages all municipal affairs across the principality. It operates from its headquarters at Place de la Mairie near Monaco Cathedral, providing residents with administrative services and public support.

The origins of this organization trace back to 13th-century settlers who established a community on the Rock of Monaco. Over centuries, this initial settlement evolved into the formal administrative system that governs the principality today.

The Commune organizes numerous civic celebrations throughout the year, including traditional festivals, municipal concerts, and public ceremonies in Monaco City.

The administrative offices are open to the public Monday through Friday between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM for conducting municipal business. It is advisable to bring necessary documents and schedule an appointment in advance if you need assistance with specific matters.

The Commune maintains authority over all Monaco territory as the sole municipal district, managing both urban development and public services within 2.08 square kilometers.
