Belvedere, Baroque palace in Landstraße, Vienna, Austria

The Belvedere consists of two distinct palaces connected by formal gardens with fountains, sculptures, and symmetrical terraces arranged in three levels.

Prince Eugene of Savoy commissioned architect Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt to construct the Lower Belvedere in 1714 and the Upper Belvedere between 1717 and 1723.

The Upper Belvedere museum exhibits Austrian art from medieval times to present day, including Gustav Klimt's painting The Kiss and works by Egon Schiele.

The Upper Belvedere opens daily from 9:00 to 18:00, while the Lower Belvedere welcomes visitors from 10:00 to 18:00, with online tickets reducing waiting times.

The State Treaty for Austrian independence from post-World War II occupation was signed at the Upper Belvedere's Marble Hall on May 15, 1955.
