Wörthersee Stadion

Wörthersee Stadion is a multi-purpose sports venue in Klagenfurt that holds approximately 32,000 spectators and features a distinctive roof structure above the East tribune. The design places spectators close to the playing field, creating an immediate connection to the action.

Built between 2006 and 2007, this stadium replaced the 1960 facility to prepare for the UEFA Euro 2008 tournament. The capacity increased from approximately 11,000 to 32,000 seats to meet international standards.

The stadium hosted an environmental art installation called For Forest in 2019, where the entire playing field transformed into a temporary forest landscape. This project drew thousands of visitors and made the venue a unique space for artistic expression beyond sports.

The venue is straightforward to navigate with accessible seating areas from multiple sides. It is helpful to arrive early and understand the layout, as different sections may be configured differently depending on the type of event.

The lower section of the South Stand features movable rail seats that can be reconfigured depending on the event type. This flexibility allows for both traditional seated viewing and safe standing arrangements for different occasions.
