Reptilienzoo Happ

Reptilienzoo Happ is a zoo in Klagenfurt dedicated to reptilian species from around the world. The facility contains snakes, lizards, turtles, crocodiles, and other reptiles housed in large outdoor and indoor enclosures.

The facility opened in 1976 as a small operation and gradually expanded into Austria's largest reptile collection. Decades of growth and development transformed it from a modest beginning into a major regional zoo.

The facility draws locals and school groups who experience reptiles up close in ways that challenge common fears and misconceptions. Many visitors leave with a different perspective on animals they previously avoided or misunderstood.

The zoo is within walking distance of central Klagenfurt and offers parking on site. Comfortable shoes are recommended, and visitors should bring sun protection in summer or weatherproof clothing in cooler months.

On Saturday afternoons, visitors can watch young crocodiles being fed, providing an intense view of their natural behavior. These feeding events are uncommon in European zoos and often become a memorable highlight of the visit.
