Öfnerspitze

Öfnerspitze is a summit in the Allgäu Alps with an elevation of 2,576 meters (8,451 feet) and features steep rocky slopes with exposed dolomite rock formations. The structure of the mountain is characterized by sharp ridges and technically demanding rock passages.

The peak was first climbed in 1854 by a survey team that created detailed maps of the Allgäu Alps. This expedition marked the beginning of modern cartographic documentation of this mountain region.

The mountain represents a traditional boundary point between Bavaria and Tyrol, marking centuries of geographical division between German and Austrian territories.

Climbing Öfnerspitze requires mountaineering experience as there are no marked trails to follow. Visitors should expect rapid weather changes at this altitude and come properly equipped for alpine conditions.

The peak is connected to neighboring Krottenspitze by an unusually flat rock platform at high altitude, which is rare in this terrain. This flat connection creates a surprising break between two technically challenging mountain passages.
