Kratzer rises to 2427 meters above sea level, featuring steep rock formations and alpine meadows between Oberstdorf and Holzgau regions.

The mountain has marked the natural boundary between Tyrolean and Bavarian territories since the establishment of regional borders in the Middle Ages.

Local mountain guides pass down generations of knowledge about Kratzer's paths and weather patterns through traditional alpine apprenticeships.

Hikers can reach the summit from both Austrian and German sides, with the Oberstdorf route providing marked trails and emergency shelters.

The mountain's position allows visitors to stand in two countries simultaneously while observing four alpine nations from its summit.
