Madlenerhaus, Mountain hut in Vorarlberg, Austria
Madlenerhaus is a mountain lodge in the Silvretta region at around 2000 meters elevation, offering beds for about 60 guests and storage space for gear. The building combines lodging with a dining room seating about 80 people and serves as a base for hiking and climbing routes across the high alpine terrain.
The lodge was founded in 1884 as a shelter for mountaineers and changed hands and management several times across the decades. In 2019, Vorarlberger Illwerke took over operations after extensive renovations and reopened the modernized building for visitors.
The hut keeps alpine traditions alive through dishes prepared with ingredients sourced from nearby farms and local producers in the region. The rustic interior and regional menu reflect how mountain communities have lived and eaten for generations.
The lodge sits directly connected to hiking trails and climbing routes, making it well positioned for day trips throughout the surrounding area. Visitors should prepare for changing mountain weather conditions and bring appropriate gear for alpine terrain.
