Golmer Joch, Mountain summit in Tschagguns, Austria

Golmer Joch is a mountain summit at 2124 meters in the Vorarlberg Alps, rising above the Montafon valley. From the top, visitors can look out across surrounding mountain ranges and see the wide valley below.

The mountain paths around Golmer Joch evolved from ancient trade routes that connected the Montafon valley with neighboring regions over many centuries. These passages served as important connections for people and goods.

The Golmer Höhenweg, partly secured with fixed ropes, starts at the Grüneck top station of the Golmerbahn gondola from Vandans and runs southwest over the Golmer Joch; beyond it the route continues as the Geißspitzweg to the Lindauer Hütte at 1744 m, a walk of about four hours. The Golm area is served by numerous lifts and is a popular, easily reached hiking area in summer.

The Golmer Höhenweg starts at the Grüneck top station of the Golmerbahn gondola from Vandans and runs southwest to the Golmer Joch; it is partly secured with ropes. Beyond the Joch it continues as the Geißspitzweg to the Lindauer Hütte at 1744 m, a walk of about four hours. Note that the Swiss 1:25,000 map labels this point Grüneck.

The Golmerbahn cable car runs on solar power, making it one of the more environmentally friendly mountain transports in the region. This technology shows how modern mountain access can work hand in hand with nature protection.
