Drei Türme, Mountain group in Rätikon range, Austria and Switzerland.
Drei Türme is a mountain group in the Rätikon range with three distinctive peaks, the highest reaching about 2830 meters and featuring steep walls up to 600 meters high on the southern side. The massif spans the border between Austria and Switzerland and forms a recognizable silhouette in this alpine region.
The massif formed as part of the Rätikon's mountain building during the Alpine formation and still shows signs of a major rockfall event at the Sporerplatte. This historical rockslide left rock fragments scattered across many kilometers, documenting the geological history of the location.
The three peaks shape the landscape at the border between Vorarlberg and Graubünden and serve as a recognizable landmark for hikers in the region. Local mountain huts and climbers often reference these distinctive towers when describing routes and positions in the mountains.
Access to the highest peaks is usually from Lindauer Hütte via established trails and requires climbing experience and sure-footedness. The best season to visit is summer through early autumn, when snow no longer blocks the routes and weather conditions are more stable.
Beyond the three main peaks lies the Sporahöhle, an underground cave with a horizontal passage that leads to a shaft opening into the Sporatobel region. This hidden cave offers visitors interested in exploration an unexpected glimpse into the geological structures beneath the mountain surface.
