Hofpürglhütte, Mountain hut in Filzmoos, Austria
The Hofpürglhütte is a mountain hut located at 1705 meters (5,594 feet) in the Salzburg Alps above Filzmoos. It provides simple overnight rooms, hot meals, and serves as a base for hiking and climbing routes across the surrounding slopes.
The hut was founded in 1901 to shelter mountaineers and hikers crossing this alpine pass. Over the decades it has adapted to serve new generations while keeping its basic purpose as a resting place on the mountain routes.
Guests gather around shared meals to exchange stories from the trails and surrounding mountains. The space naturally brings together people from different places who share a passion for the high country.
Marked trails connect the hut to surrounding peaks and lower villages, with most routes suitable for people with basic hiking experience. The best time to visit is spring through autumn when snow does not block the paths and the hut operates normally.
The hut received environmental certification in 2006 for sustainable practices in operations and water use on the mountainside. During bad weather a small indoor climbing wall area allows guests to stay active when the surrounding peaks are unreachable.
