Seebensee, Alpine lake at 1657 meters in Ehrwald, Austria

The lake extends 400 meters in length and 200 meters in width, surrounded by the peaks of Vorderer Tajakopf, Vorderer Drachenkopf, and Ehrwalder Sonnenspitze.

The lake area was notably larger in previous centuries, with geological evidence showing an extensive southeastern section that transformed into grassland through natural sedimentation.

The Seebensee region maintains traditional Alpine practices with local shepherds continuing seasonal grazing patterns around the Seebenalm pasture near the lake.

Visitors can reach the lake via a 10.4-kilometer circular trail from Ehrwald, starting with the Ehrwalder Almbahn cable car and following marked paths through the valley.

The lake receives no visible surface water inflow but drains through the Seebenbach Falls and Geißbach, eventually connecting to the Loisach river system.
