Osterhorn

The Osterhorn reaches 1,764 meters in elevation and features mixed terrain including forested paths, dirt roads, and steep alpine sections along its 15-kilometer route.

The surrounding area underwent extensive logging during the salt industry period, followed by reforestation efforts that shaped the current landscape of the mountain.

Local foresters maintain the mountain paths and document each ascent in the summit book, continuing a tradition of environmental stewardship in the region.

The ascent requires standard mountain safety equipment, including avalanche transceivers, probes, and shovels, particularly important during winter climbing seasons.

The summit provides access to a 360-degree view encompassing the Gamsfeld, Schafberg, and the extensive Postalm meadow spanning 42 square kilometers.
