Rinnkogel

Rinnkogel is a peak in the Salzburg Alps with forested lower slopes that transition to rocky ground higher up. The summit features a narrow ridge that connects different climbing routes.

The mountain paths were created in the 19th century when hunters and gatherers first established routes across the slopes. These early trails formed the basis for today's hiking routes.

The trails on this peak have been maintained by local mountaineers and form part of the region's traditional Alpine routes. Hikers regularly use these paths, contributing to the preservation of the area's mountain heritage.

The hike starts best from the parking area at Postalm, where there is plenty of space for vehicles. The route is well marked, but sturdy hiking boots and weatherproof clothing are needed, as conditions at the top can change quickly.

In winter, the southern exposure of the upper paths creates noticeable temperature differences between the forested base and the exposed summit. These differences strongly affect snow coverage and hiking conditions.
