Gazakh District

The district spans 700 square kilometers of land, featuring mountains, plains, and agricultural fields at an elevation of 396 meters above sea level.

The region transformed from the Kazakh Sultanate in the 15th century to becoming part of the Russian Empire following the Treaty of Gulistan in 1813.

The district maintains 112 registered monuments encompassing archaeological sites, architectural structures, and artistic works that reflect regional Azerbaijani heritage.

The district capital Gazakh connects to other regions through railway networks and houses industrial facilities including the Gazakh Cement Plant.

The territory includes two separate exclaves, Yukhari Askipara and Barkhudarly villages, which are completely surrounded by Armenian territory.
