Deghdznut Monastery, Medieval monastery in Tavush Province, Armenia
The monastery complex contains a main church with a rectangular domed hall design, constructed from dark pink tuffa stone and detailed architectural ornamentation.
Founded by Archimandrite Arakel from Tarson in the 13th century, the monastery's construction of its narthex took 16 years from 1258 to 1274.
The monastery features numerous khachkars, including works by medieval craftsmen Petros and Kaghak, displaying traditional Armenian stone carving techniques from 1274.
Located 9 kilometers southeast of Acharkut village, the monastery sits along the Khndzorkut River and remains accessible through forest paths.
The narthex roof incorporates pairs of intersecting arches with a central opening called erdik, demonstrating specific architectural elements of medieval Armenia.
