The museum occupies a Renaissance-style mansion with four floors, stretching across an entire city block in central Baku.
The building, constructed between 1895 and 1901, served as the residence of oil magnate Haji Zeynalabdin Taghiyev before becoming a museum in 1920.
The museum displays extensive collections of archaeological artifacts, traditional costumes, medieval weapons, and documents showcasing Azerbaijan's heritage.
Visitors can explore multiple exhibition halls featuring over 300,000 artifacts, including prehistoric tools, medieval manuscripts, and contemporary historical documents.
The building preserves original interior features of Taghiyev's mansion, including his study room and Oriental Hall, restored using family photo albums.
