Bottle house of Ganja, Residential building made of bottles in Ganja, Azerbaijan.
The Bottle House is a two-story residential building in Ganja made from approximately 48,000 glass bottles of different sizes and colors embedded in its walls and decorative elements. The structure displays a careful arrangement of these bottles throughout its entire exterior.
Ibrahim Jafarov built this house in 1967 as a memorial to his brother Yusif, who disappeared during World War II. The building emerged from personal grief and a desire to preserve his brother's memory through an unconventional architectural work.
The walls display the name Ganja through bottle arrangements alongside a portrait of Yusif Jafarov. Visitors can see how the owner wove personal memory and local identity directly into the building's decoration.
The house is located at the intersection of Huseyn Javid and Gambar Huseynli Streets and remains visible from the outside as a private residence. Visitors can view the facade from the street and photograph the bottle arrangements from various angles.
The bottles are mixed with colored stones from Sochi, creating patterns that reflect sunlight throughout the day. This combination of recycled glass and imported stone creates visual depth that shifts with the time of day and light conditions.
