Višegrad sits at the confluence of the Drina and Rzav rivers, with the stone Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge spanning 179 meters across the water.
The region belonged to the medieval Serbian Nemanjić dynasty until 1454 when Ottoman forces established control and influenced its architectural development.
The Mehmed Paša Sokolović Bridge gained worldwide recognition through Ivo Andrić's novel The Bridge on the Drina, earning UNESCO World Heritage status.
The House of Culture Andrićgrad presents exhibitions and performances throughout the year, while local restaurants serve traditional dishes near the riverfront.
The bridge features a central stone sofa platform where people gather, along with original Arabic inscriptions commemorating its sixteenth-century construction.
