Avaz Twist Tower is a 40-story, 172 m skyscraper in Sarajevo's Marijin Dvor district, headquarters of the newspaper company Dnevni avaz. Its glass facade of square panels twists as it rises, broken near the upper third by a recessed band of pale golden lit structure. Above it the glass continues to a dark rounded crown topped by a striped cylindrical section with a small red illuminated "Avaz" sign.
The tower was completed in 2008 and marked an important moment of urban renewal after the war. It served as headquarters for the Dnevni Avaz newspaper and symbolized Sarajevo's emergence as a modern business center.
The tower is the headquarters of the newspaper company Dnevni avaz, and its name comes from that paper. Visitors can eat at BOHO Steak House on the 31st floor or drink at Sky Lounge 35, a café on the 35th floor, with an observation deck on the 36th. The old Avaz headquarters was later converted into the five-star Radon Plaza Hotel, owned by Fahrudin Radončić.
The tower stands in the Marijin Dvor business district, beside the Parliament and Government buildings of Bosnia and Herzegovina. A steak restaurant occupies the 31st floor, a café the 35th, and an observation deck the 36th. The 142 m shaft carries a 30 m antenna, bringing total height to 172 m.
The twisted spiral structure earned recognition from German company Schuco in 2009 as a world-class design. It was placed among the ten most exceptional buildings globally for its geometric form and engineering achievement.
