Franciscan monastery of Široki Brijeg

The Franciscan monastery of Sirok Brijeg is a religious institution in the town of Sirok Brijeg in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The complex houses a large stone church dedicated to the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, built using regional limestone materials.

The monastery was founded in 1846 as the first Franciscan institution in Herzegovina after Ottoman forces had destroyed religious buildings in the 16th century. It emerged during a period of spiritual revival in the region.
