Bangladesh Medical University is a public medical institution in Shahbag, Dhaka, with eight specialized faculties including Medicine, Surgery, Dentistry, Nursing, and Preventive Medicine. The campus houses a central library, digital databases, and a large teaching hospital supporting hands-on medical training.
The institution started in 1965 as a postgraduate research center housed in a Shahbag hotel. It evolved over the decades and formally became a university in 1998.
