Teknaf Upazila

Teknaf Upazila extends along the Naf River, forming the southernmost point of mainland Bangladesh with a total area of 388.66 square kilometers.

The administrative region established its status as a thana in 1930 and transformed into an upazila in 1983, marking a significant change in local governance.

The region includes 183 mosques, 7 temples, and 11 Buddhist vihars, reflecting the religious diversity of its 333,865 inhabitants from various ethnic backgrounds.

The area maintains 80 kilometers of paved roads, 74 kilometers of semi-paved roads, and 358 kilometers of unpaved roads for transportation needs.

The Teknaf Peninsula contains one of the longest sandy beach systems globally, stretching approximately 80 kilometers along the coastline.
