The mosque construction dates to 1679 when Diwan Munawar Khan commissioned it near the burial site of his grandfather Musa Khan.
Muslim students and faculty members from Dhaka University gather at this mosque five times daily for prayers, maintaining centuries of religious practices.
Visitors can reach the mosque through the southern entrance of Dhaka University campus, with rickshaws available from nearby transportation hubs.
The underground chambers beneath the mosque's raised platform contain a series of rooms that reflect medieval Mughal engineering techniques.
