Kalurghat Bridge, Railway bridge in Chittagong, Bangladesh

The steel structure spans 239 meters across the Karnaphuli River with 13 different spans and features a narrow 3.05-meter road space for vehicles.

Constructed in 1930 by British engineers from Brunick & Company Bridge Builders, the bridge initially served rail transportation between Janalihut and Gomdandi stations.

The bridge area gained recognition during the Bangladesh Liberation War through the establishment of Kalurghat Betar Kendra radio station.

The structure currently allows passage for vehicles under 10 tons with a speed limit of 16 kilometers per hour due to safety considerations.

Bangladesh Railway generates revenue by leasing the bridge annually, earning over 10 million Taka in 2002 from this arrangement.
