Meunier Museum, Artist's home and museum in Ixelles, Belgium.
The Meunier Museum is the former home of Belgian artist Constantin Meunier and houses more than 150 of his works. The collection features bronze sculptures, paintings, and drawings displayed throughout the rooms of the original residence.
Meunier occupied the building from 1899 until 1905 as both his home and working studio. The Belgian state purchased it in 1936 and opened it to the public in 1939 as part of the Royal Museums of Fine Arts.
The collection portrays factory workers and their daily lives during the industrial era. This focus on ordinary people and labor reflected a shift in how artists viewed society and what subjects deserved artistic attention.
The museum is located on Rue de l'Abbaye and offers free admission for visitors. It operates on weekdays, though weekend visits are available by prior arrangement for groups.
The house preserves the original separation between private living quarters and the artist's studio where Meunier created his bronze sculptures. Visitors can see how the artist's daily work was intertwined with his private life.
