Miranda Castle, Gothic Revival château in Belgium
Miranda Castle, also known as Château de Noisy, was a large neo-Gothic mansion built in the 1860s that rose prominently on a hillside. The building gradually fell into disrepair over many decades after it closed, until its demolition in 2017.
Built in 1866, the castle served as an orphanage in its early years and later became a recovery center for children after World War II. Following its closure, the structure sat empty for over four decades before demolition.
The castle drew photographers and explorers for decades who documented its empty halls and deteriorating rooms.
Since the building was demolished, visitors cannot access it anymore, though photographs and online archives preserve images of its former state. The site near Houyet in Wallonia remains easy to locate using standard maps or local directions.
The castle drew a specific audience interested in ghost stories and local legends, making it a hotspot in urban exploration circles. This appeal stemmed less from its architectural merit than from the emotional pull of visiting an abandoned, decaying structure.
