Herman Teirlinckgebouw, Government building in Thurn and Taxis district, Brussels, Belgium
Herman Teirlinckgebouw is a six-story administrative building with a 60 meter (197 foot) tower located in Brussels. Four green winter gardens distribute daylight throughout the interior, creating open light-filled spaces inside.
Completed in 2017, the building was designed by Neutelings Riedijk and Conix rdbm architects to modernize the Thurn and Taxis district. Its construction was part of a wider effort to transform this area of the city.
Artistic details like carved reliefs and a poem adorn the facade, bringing Belgian creative expression into the building's design. These elements give the structure a personal character that goes beyond its administrative role.
The building is well connected to public transport and links directly to Brussels North station. Keep in mind this is an administrative building, so visiting may be limited to public areas or special events.
Inside the building runs a covered indoor street that functions as a public passage, connecting different sections together. This open corridor creates an unexpected shared space within what is primarily an administrative facility.
