UP-site, Residential skyscraper in Northern Quarter, Brussels, Belgium.
The UP-site is a modern residential skyscraper in northern Brussels spanning 42 floors at approximately 142 meters high. The building combines apartments, office space, shops, and underground parking, creating a mixed-use complex in a single structure.
The tower was completed in June 2014, marking the first major skyscraper project in Brussels following roughly three decades without new vertical construction. It signaled a return to ambitious development in the capital city.
The building incorporates modern architectural elements with aluminum panels and floor-to-height variations between 3.1 and 3.75 meters throughout its structure.
Multiple ground-level entrances provide easy access, and elevators connect all levels throughout the complex. Restaurants and shops occupy the lower floors, while residential and office spaces fill the upper sections.
During construction, engineers employed the ATR self-climbing system, a specialized method that allowed each floor to be completed in roughly seven days. This innovative building technique was crucial to the project's rapid progress.
