Centre-Sud Region

Centre-Sud Region is an administrative area in central Burkina Faso made up of three provinces with Manga serving as the main administrative center. The region spreads across varied terrain with grasslands and scattered settlements connected by local roads.

The region was created in 2001 when Burkina Faso reorganized its administrative structure into 13 regions. This restructuring aimed to improve how the country managed its territories and services.

Local communities in Centre-Sud maintain traditional storytelling practices, conveying historical knowledge through gatherings where elders share tales with younger generations.

The region connects to major cities through a road network where cars and motorcycles are the main transport options. Visitors should expect varying road conditions and allow extra time for travel between towns.

The area receives considerably more rainfall than northern parts of Burkina Faso, resulting in greener landscapes and better conditions for farming. This higher moisture level makes the region more favorable for crops and livestock.
