Bangr Weoogo Park, It is one of the most amazing urban parks in the world and has an impressive host of animals and plant life.It is located in Burkina Faso
Bangr Weoogo Park is a protected forest area in Ouagadougou that covers about 240 hectares and houses different tree species, plants, and wildlife. The park is divided into several sections, including a botanical garden and zoo area where visitors can observe local flora and fauna.
The forest was protected as a sacred site by local Mossi leaders and received official classification in 1936 from the Governor of French West Africa. This recognition established its status as a protected area and preserved its special character through to today.
The name Bangré Wéogho comes from the Mooré language and means "Forest of Knowledge". It reflects the connection between this place and traditional learning practices and spiritual activities that remain part of how people experience it today.
The park is open Tuesday through Sunday from early morning until late afternoon and features walking paths and documentation centers to explore. Visitors should note that access is not available on Mondays, and the best times to visit are during the cooler parts of the day.
The site contains separate sections with different focuses: a botanical garden with targeted plant collections and a larger zoo area housing many animal species. This two-part structure allows visitors to experience both the plant and animal life of the region in concentrated and organized ways.
