Sapareva banya

Sapareva Banya stands at an elevation of 757 meters at the northern foot of the Rila Mountains, surrounded by natural mineral springs and mountain landscapes.

The settlement originated as the Roman town Germania in the 3rd century, serving as an important urban center in the province of Dacia and birthplace of general Belisarius.

The town maintains three notable religious structures: St Nicholas Church from the 12th century, St George's Church, and the Forty Martyrs Church from 1859.

The mineral waters reach temperatures of 103°C, making them among the hottest in Europe, with multiple facilities offering therapeutic treatments throughout the year.

A natural geyser erupting since 1957 marks the center of the town, releasing mineral water that reaches temperatures higher than standard boiling point.
