Church of St Nicholas, Sapareva Banya

The Church of St Nicholas exhibits Byzantine architecture with red brick walls, white mortar, and a twelve-sided dome in central Sapareva Banya.

The church, constructed between the 11th and 14th centuries, survived through the Ottoman period when repairs to religious structures were prohibited.

The structure received recognition as a national monument of culture in 1968, preserving fragments of original frescoes that represent medieval Bulgarian artistry.

The church measures 7.2 meters by 5.7 meters, with its dome reaching 6.6 meters in height, making it accessible for small group visits.

The architectural design incorporates intricate two-level niches on multiple sides and features a sunken brick construction method specific to this building.
